Autumn is my absolute favorite season! Cozy sweaters and warm spices, red and golden leaves, pumpkin everything, and delightful & spooky holidays like Halloween and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)! Ever since I first saw Sylvia Ji's beautiful calavera girls some years back I've wanted to do some type of sugar skull inspired make-up or art, so this year I've made my first attempt at a bit of calavera/Day of the Dead nail art!
This was my color inspiration: beer. I saw Magic Hat's awesome "Night of the Living Dead" variety 12-pack and knew exactly how I wanted to do my sugar skull manicure. Almost. Well, I eventually figured out what I'd do and came up with this! I painted calaveras/sugar skulls on my thumb and ring finger, and bunches of marigolds on my index, middle, and pinky.
I dabbed on a few glitters as jewel-like eyes and accents for my skulls!
I definitely want to try more spooky skulls and calaveras de azúcar nail art (and hopefully get less of a swirly uni-brow thing going on) but overall I'm pretty happy with how this attempt turned out. I'll be sharing more of my spooky and Halloween nail art soon, and look forward to seeing everyone's creations!
