This weekend while perusing around Ulta I discovered that they had the new Sally Hansen "Sugar Shimmer" collection, which I've been super psyched about trying! They all looked pretty amazing, but I knew I just had to get Work of Tart, a gorgeous dusty teal with gold/green shimmer.

Blushing Winter Dawn Nail Art

Lately I've been wanting to do more themed/inspired nail art, to celebrate winter and the holidays, using my favorite colors of the season: the soft, cold, and snowy shades of winter. So I put together this manicure inspired by the beautiful blue and pink frosty hues of a winter sunrise.

Femme Fatale: Christmas & Holiday Colors

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving everyone! I'm so stoked to share this exciting news! A short time ago, after my first review of her polishes, Sophie of Femme Fatale Cosmetics contacted me and asked if I would be interested in doing promotional material for her brand. As soon as I'd finished jumping, flailing, and squealing with joy, I told her, "Absolutely yes!" and began swatching and photographing her beautiful colors. It's been a fantastic experience; Sophie is a sweetheart and has been delight to work with, and I've really enjoyed putting together photos of her amazing polishes. So today I finally decided to share swatches of some of her new colors for Christmas and the Holidays, since it's already just around the corner! Where did this year go?!

I absolutely love this concept and her execution is perfect! Today I have the Opals set, a really unique collection of jellies filled with flakies (yes, flakies!), iridescent glitter, and holographic micro-glitter.

Haunted Mansion Wallpaper: Victorian Halloween Nail Art

I know, Halloween has already passed, but I still can't get enough of spooky manicures! This one is based off of the tattered wallpaper in an old, spooky Victorian house. First I painted on a beige creme, Essie Sand Tropez, and then sponged on darker taupes and burgundies to create a worn and grungy effect. After I'd added topcoat and let it dry, I stamped on an ornate brocade pattern from Bundle Monster plate BM20 to make it look like antique Victorian wallpaper.

Sweet & Spooky: Halloween Treats Nail Art

Halloween is here again already, I just can't believe it! I always have so many ideas and things I want to decorate and then it's here and gone before I get it all together! At least this year we have a pumpkin, and an awesome one at that.

Dia de los Muertos: Sugar Skull Nail Art

Autumn is my absolute favorite season! Cozy sweaters and warm spices, red and golden leaves, pumpkin everything, and delightful & spooky holidays like Halloween and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)! Ever since I first saw Sylvia Ji's beautiful calavera girls some years back I've wanted to do some type of sugar skull inspired make-up or art, so this year I've made my first attempt at a bit of calavera/Day of the Dead nail art!

Darling Diva "Queen" Collection: We Are the Champions

Get ready for more multichrome, more holo, and more beautiful Darling Diva Polish! Today I have another amazing color sent to me from Darling Diva from her "Queen" collection, here is "We Are the Champions."

Darling Diva Polish We Are the Champions

We Are the Champions is a metallic gold/olive holographic multichrome that shifts to chartreuse, green, teal, and even turquoise-blue. The color is quite like the popular Chanel "Peridot" but with a much more intense shift, as well as a stunning linear holo effect! The holo isn't very noticeable indoors, but outdoors it is absolutely dazzling. The shifting colors are incredibly vibrant in sunlight, as well.

Pahlish: October "The Great Pumpkin" Duo

The first day of Autumn was just last week, and today is my first Fall polish post! Today I have two wonderful colors sent to me from Pahlish that are perfect for the season, her October duo inspired by "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," here are "Most Sincere Pumpkin Patch" and "Bag of Rocks."

Pahlish Most Sincere Pumpkin Patch

Most Sincere Pumpkin Patch is a nearly-black deep brown jelly filled with pink, orange, gold, and green micro-shimmer. It has a very "harvest" look to it, like warm spices and rich soil. The formula was very good; a little patchy on the first coat, then perfectly even and opaque by the third. The shimmer is very subtle and eye-catching, and appears best in direct light.

Liquid Lacquer: Blurple Nurple and Halfway Gemini

Today I have a couple of gorgeous polishes sent from Liquid Lacquer! I absolutely loved the other two polishes of hers I'd tried and am really excited to share more!

Liquid Lacquer Blurple Nurple

Blurple Nurple is a glitter topper consisting of large aqua and lavender holographic circles, as well as lavender, pink, violet, turquoise, and teal squares and hexes, some metallic and some holo, in a clear base. I looove this mix of glitters! The colors are beautiful and unique (teal and purple? heck yeah!) with an excellent variety of shapes and sizes. Here I have it layered over Revlon Enchanting and Trendy (accent).

A England: Sleeping Palace

A England Sleeping Palace

There is something about A England's polishes that makes them remarkably unique and enchanting. I just love the mythology and inspiration behind them, the flawless formulas, and the mysterious and exquisite colors. The most recent "Burne-Jones Dream" collection is no exception. I was immediately taken with Sleeping Palace-- perfect for Fall, or any time you want your nails to look damn good.

Love & Beauty Textured Polishes, @ Forever 21

I always love to check out the nail polishes at Forever 21! They're super cheap and usually pretty good, and sometimes are even dupes of more expensive or hard to find polishes (like the "pink speckled glitter" that was a dupe of OPI I Lily Love You.). Recently I came upon a few new textured polishes on their site, and decided to give them a try.

Love & Beauty "Black Glam" (or "Purple/Gold"), no topcoat

This is "Black Glam" or, the more generic name on the actual label, "Purple/Gold". Black Glam is a beautiful mix of gold, pink, copper, magenta, green, and purple glitter flecks in a dark aubergine base. It's basically a cross between OPI's "Vesper" and "Alcatraz... Rocks"-- the base is the same deep violet/eggplant as Vesper with the multi-colored sparkle of Alcatraz, and it looks freakin' awesome!

Indigo Bananas: Electric Unicorns

The final color I have to show you, and maybe my absolute favorite from the "Fiery the Angels Fell" collection, is Indigo Bananas Electric Unicorns.

Indigo Bananas: Immortal Game

Today I have what is now one of my all-time favorite, most awesomest of polishes, Indigo Bananas Immortal Game, from the "Fiery the Angels Fell" collection

Indigo Bananas: Twice as Bright

 - Dr. Tyrell, Blade Runner

I'm in the middle of watching the movie "Blade Runner" so I can fully appreciate the gorgeous colors from Indigo Bananas' "Fiery the Angels Fell" collection! Here is the beautiful and dazzling Twice as Bright.

Indigo Bananas: Fiery the Angels Fell

Indigo Bananas released a gorgeous collection of polishes mid-Summer that I just have to (finally!) share, because they're pretty much my dream colors! How does Andrea do it?! Fiery the Angels Fell is a set of five beautiful colors inspired by (mostly the film) Blade Runner.

Here is the collection's namesake, Fiery the Angels Fell, an incredible and vibrant "coral red foil type duochrome with small holographic shimmer in it, in a red base," as described by Andrea of Indigo Bananas. The beautiful coral red shifts into shades of orange and tangerine at an angle, and the duochrome is very apparent both indoors and outside. The formula was stellar and became opaque in two easy coats!

Darling Diva: Cray Cray, Shadow Puppets, & Bubble Time (pre-revision)

Today I have a few beautiful polishes sent from Darling Diva to share with you!

Darling Diva Cray Cray

Cray Cray is a very unique topper with a lot of awesome going on! It combines a lovely lavender-pink-copper shift with a holographic effect, and is most intense layered over darker colors. Here I have it swatched over Essie Naughty Nautical, a vibrant teal. I love this combination! It's almost like a holographic "Aqua Lily".

Indigo Bananas With a Spoon in It

Today I have the final (and possibly my favorite!) of Indigo Bananas' "Executive Holo" collection! Here is the gorgeous and subtle With a Spoon in It.

Indigo Bananas: Executive Holos, Part 2

I have a couple of amazing holos today, and not just any holos-- Executive Holos sent to me from Indigo Bananas, inspired of course by the charming and delightful Eddie Izzard.

Indigo Bananas Executive Transvestite

Let's start off with this collection's namesake, Executive Transvestite, a gorgeous and incredibly wearable medium metallic gold with gold flakies and an outstanding linear holographic effect. Typically I don't wear much gold: polish, jewelry, or otherwise, but Executive Transvestite is a perfect "neutral" shade of gold that even us cool-complexioned folks can wear!

Femme Fatale Cosmetics

Femme Fatale Cosmetics is a brand whose beautiful polishes I've admired and coveted for some time, and when I discovered that nearly all of them are inspired by (probably my favorite video game) World of Warcraft, I pretty much lost my mind with utter nerdjoy. So I was fairly ecstatic when I found out that I would receive polish samples to review! Prepare for a ton of photos and some serious nerd-citement in today's post!

Darling Diva Polish Call the Doctor and Denim Mitten

Doing a bit of a "pink and blue" theme today with these two awesome Darling Diva Polish glitters, Call the Doctor and Denim Mitten!

Darling Diva Call the Doctor over China Glaze Fancy Pants

Call the Doctor is jam-packed with prismatic circle-y goodness! It's a mix of small to large black, white, pink, and fuchsia circles and holographic silver micro-glitter in a slightly pink-tinted base. This is such a great color combo that looks good over tons of different polishes, I love it!

Indigo Bananas Alcatraz and Cake or Death

I'm so excited to share these amazing new holos that Indigo Bananas sent to me! Part of the "Executive Holos" collection, which was inspired by Eddie Izzard's "Dress to Kill," here are Alcatraz and Cake or Death!

Alcatraz, (once an island paradise, now a penitentiary) is a beautiful and SUPER holographic muted seafoam blue with subtle purple flecks. I absolutely love this color! Dusty turquoise is one of my favorite shades, and the incredible holo effect with hints of of lavender make Alcatraz truly one of a kind.

Different Dimension: Excelsior, Yours Mine and Flowers, and Squarey Hexey

Random swatches of a few more polishes I received from Different Dimension today! Here is the holographic Excelsior, pretty pastel Yours, Mine, and Flowers, and very sparkly Squarey Hexey.

Different Dimension Excelsior
Excelsior is a white-leaning-grey subtle holographic polish with multi-colored shimmer that give it a touch of sparkle and texture. I really love the balance of the holo effect with the color-- it isn't metallic-looking, and the white/grey is very soft and flattering. Plus the colorful flecks make it even more interesting and unique!

Different Dimension: Orion Nebula and Doppelgänger

More beautiful polishes (purchased or sent for review) from Different Dimension! Take a look at these two gorgeous glitters, Orion Nebula and Doppelgänger.

Different Dimension Orion Nebula over Revlon Black Lingerie

Orion Nebula contains different-sized fuchsia circle glitters in a semi-opaque black jelly base. The large circles are holographic, and absolutely stunning! The fuchsia and holo glitter contrasting against the black really give Orion Nebula a likeness to this incredible interstellar formation.

Darling Diva: New Glow-in-the-Dark Polishes!

Today I have even more new polishes from Darling Diva, three awesome glow-in-the-dark glitters!

Darling Diva Firefly over Zoya Frida
Firefly might just be my favorite of the three; it's a sheer lime-green jelly packed with holographic teal, blue/purple and green/orange iridescents, and holographic micro glitter, along with tiny blue/green iridescent flecks that are just magical! The formula was excellent, and application was smooth and effortless. (Are you humming the Ballad of Serenity yet?)

Darling Diva Material Girl & Lucky Star

Grab your leg-warmers and hairspray and get ready go totally 80's! Today I have two of the new Madonna-inspired glitter polishes sent from Darling Diva, Material Girl and Lucky Star.

Darling Diva Material Girl

Material Girl is a slightly shimmery bubblegum-pink jelly filled with micro to large silver holographic glitter, as well as small and medium fuchsia circles. The jelly is the perfect consistency:  just a bit sheer with two coats, and mostly opaque in three, as pictured here. The amount of glitter allowed it to build very well and still look smooth and sparkly (not a mass of lumpy glitter!). The larger glitters required a bit of fishing/dabbing, as per usual.

Different Dimension: Set it Free

Today I have three gorgeous scattered holographic polishes that I picked up/was sent by Different Dimension, the "Set it Free" collection. These polishes can be worn alone or layered over another color. Here I have them pictured on their own, and aren't they lovely?

Different Dimension Black Dahlia

Are there any Jrock fans out there? The first thing that comes to my mind with this polish is X Japan's song "Dahlia"-- ahh, sweet memories of visual kei! Black Dahlia is a beautiful charcoal grey scattered holograhpic polish packed with blue-purple iridescent glitters, and has a subtle fuchsia/purple shimmer that complements it perfectly. This one is my favorite of the three-- I just love how the iridescent glitters pop out against the dark grey!

Indigo Bananas Anansi and Eshu

Are you ready to go bananas?! Are you getting tired of my terrible puns yet? No? Excellent! Today I have two more gorgeous multichromes I bought from Indigo Bananas, Anansi and Eshu.

Indigo Bananas Anansi

Anansi is a beautifully intense emerald glass fleck that shifts to a stunning violet, and even magenta at extreme angles. I love the incredible vibrancy of this color! It's so rich and jewel-like. This polish was named after the African god, Anansi, who is known as a cunning trickster that often takes the form of a spider. It reminds me of Peacock Spiders with their flashy little bums!

Both will make for an easy transition through the summer and into the fall.  We are also excited to unveil two scented cuticle oils in an easy-applicator pen.  We hope to inspire and motivate people to go out in the sun and show off their nails!” says Rose.
